I chatted to several gentlemen on line but nothing really “clicked”  couple of meet up for coffees and then Gavin came on line.  Just 2 weeks into my membership.  Something just seemed right!!!  Met up at Lee on the Solent for afternoon drink and whoops, we were like two teenagers, holding hands… have not done that for years as we are both of a more mature age … 61 and 64!!!!  But to the other members of The Senior Dating Agency – it can happen! Had lots in common.  Since then have been out for some lovely pub evening meals with live bands and I even got to play the bongos!! Day trip to Brighton and have introduced him to my daughter (as a friend at the moment).  We will see how it goes but at the moment it is lovely and all a bit of a flutter.  Lets hope it continues but it is georgeous to wake up in the morning and wait for the phone call.   Would definately recommend your site, in fact my sister in law met her lovely man through you and they are now married. Dating Dilemmas: Will I ever get my confidence back?

Hi Senior Dating Agency,

I’ve been on my own for a long time, following the loss of my wife, and after years of being alone I really feel as though my confidence has gone. I joined the dating site hoping to meet mature daters like myself but so far I’ve not had the confidence to get in touch with anyone, let alone arrange a meeting. The trouble with confidence is that it’s not something you can just turn on and off at the flick of a switch. In reality it’s something that requires a complete change of mind and attitude, which unfortunately isn’t something that can happen over night. However, there are a few things that you can do to start working on your self-esteem and building up your confidence.

Be positive: It’s not rocket science by any means, but when we’re positive in our minds and general outlook on life, we’re generally happier people. So stop putting yourself down, stop focussing on the things you don’t like about yourself and start directing your energy on the things that make you great.

Do something new: Making simple changes to your routine can work wonders for your self-confidence; anything from starting a new hobby, joining a club or signing yourself up for a charity event. Not only will you be making a positive difference on your life, but you’ll also meet new people along the way, which is great for building upon your social skills.

Speak to a friend: Friends have the ability to see all of your great qualities; that’s why they’re friends with you. A quick catch up with an old friend is all you need to remind you why someone would be lucky to be with you.

Have a makeover: A makeover doesn’t have to be huge or expensive, it can be anything from a new haircut and colour, to buying a new outfit or updating your glasses. Making little changes will not only make you feel great about yourself but will probably attract a fair few compliments too, all going that little way to restoring your self-esteem.

Arrange a date: One of the scariest things about dating is having other people judge you. However, don’t forget that everyone is in the same boat. It’s always great to hear back from our members who have left the site because they found exactly what they came here looking for. Colin and Susan are no exception and when they got in touch with us to let us know about their success,we were so over the moon for them, that we wanted to share it with you too. So, without further ado it’s over to Colin and Susan to share their story.

“We are truly blessed to have found each other through your brilliant website. We’re like minded souls though we definitely aren’t clones and have our own minds. Susan was brave enough to contact me after reading one of my dating diaries (which is definitely the magic of the site). At first Susan was apprehensive about meeting up with me as I was in South London and she lived several miles north of London and was also already well underway to planning to move to Norfolk. I could see that there was something special already brewing that was too good to let go. I could see opportunities and explained that I worked only a few miles from where she lived, as a IT Engineer, and fairly close to where she worked too as a mobile physio-therapist. As her moving to Norfolk, my parents lived in Norfolk too so all is not lost.

She too is a possibility thinker like me and soon we had arranged to meet after work for a meal. Not surprisingly we got on very well without any awkward silences or nervous laughter. I think here again the dating diaries and the excellent profiles we’d written help as we felt we knew each other already from just reading them beforehand.

We arranged to meet the following week as stupidly we thought that was the “done thing” to have to wait a while and not appear too eager, but in the end we could see no reason to wait that long if we’d got on so well and so changed the arrangement to another date as soon as possible.

To cut a long story short, we have been almost inseparable since our second meeting and very quick on a trip to Norfolk Susan was to meet my parents which was brilliant and so natural and they too adore her and welcome her with open arms.

We have many plans for a great future together. Both of us had come out of difficult past relationships but fortunately with both of us having positive energy that resonates between us we feel that together we can overcome anything that comes our way.

How To: Deal with Someone Who Viewed Your Profile But Didn’t Message You

When you log into your account on The Senior Dating Agency there is an option under ‘Account’ (in the top right hand corner of the page) to see who has ‘Viewed Me’. This feature allows you to see who has looked at your profile recently and is a great way to see who is showing an interest. However, if you cross reference the ‘viewed me’ section with your inbox you may notice that sometimes, there might be people who viewed your profile but didn’t actually follow it up with a message. This can leave you questioning yourself and asking ‘what didn’t they send me a message? What am I doing wrong?’. However, you needn’t worry because as with all things in life, there’s probably a good explanation for it.

They may have just joined: Remember when you first joined the site? After setting up your profile you went to take a look around and probably clicked on a fair few profiles with no intention of sending any messages just yet. Just in a ‘checking what’s out there kind of way’. You didn’t mean anything by it you just weren’t quite ready to start sending messages.

They might be shy: If someone has looked at your profile but not followed through with a message it could well be that they are shy. For one reason or another they’re just not ready to reach out and make the first move. They might be scared of rejection or…

They might be showing their interest: Sometimes people may just look at your profile to show you they are interested. In this case, the digital ice is broken and the ball is in your court. If you’re interested take advantage of that and send them a message.

They may still be a basic member: Don’t forget that as a free member you can browse the site and look at profiles but you can’t send messages. So if they’ve looked at your profile but you’ve not received a message from them it may well be that they can’t send messages just yet. So sit tight, you may receive a message once they’ve upgraded.

You may not be what they’re looking for: We’ve all done it; clicked onto someones profile because something has taken our interest only to read more and find out that actually, you didn’t have quite as much in common as you thought. It could be something as tiny as you live too far away from one another. Don’t take it personally and move on. There’s thousands more potential matches out there.

“The lady I met, who is now the love of my life, is Francesca. She contacted me and without even meeting her our text conversations flowed sparking mutual interest. She was the first I dated and I was not disappointed when meeting face to face. The meal in the restaurant went all too quickly despite us having three courses and then we prolonged the evening by walking alongside the canal in reading town centre. Because of diary commitments we couldn’t meet on a second date for 10 days or so during which we each dated a few more and we were both worried that the other might find someone else. Luckily this was not to be and we are now enjoying a meaningful relationship and starting to talk about the future.

Photo attached was taken on a weekend trip on my narrowboat using the camera on a 10 second timer- Fran had to jump down from the roof of the boat and then start smiling- I couldn’t stop laughing! We got it right on the second attempt.
